Friday Fill-Ins and Star Wars Funnies

The world beware. I am in one heck of a crappy mood. I was in a crappy mood when I got out of bed this morning and then I learned I didn't make it into the graduate program I want so now I'm really f-ed up. Sigh. What do you do when a 4.0 is not good enough? Argh. But onto something to help keep me a little busy. Friday Fill-ins! Even though it is still Thursday here. But that means I can do Thursday Thirteen too. :)

1. I can't believe I didn't get in.

2. There are troubles for everyone.

3. How can I get my mind off this.

4. Fake chicken was the last thing I cooked.

5. Six of one type of show is far too many.

6. Back to step one; nonono!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to getting some sleep hopefully, tomorrow my plans include filling out applications for Simmons and Drexel and Sunday, I want to see a good movie!

And for Thursday Thirteen...I was watching Star Wars: A New Hope last night....man those stormtroopers need training.

13 Recommendations from The Imperial Stormtrooper Manual
1. Time is of the utmost importance. Don't even bother waiting until the door is completely open. Your helmet can withstand small head wounds.
2. If you have a problem with your equipment simply point to the offending piece and your commander will understand and take care of it.
3. If you come across a locked door during a search assume what you are looking for is not behind it and move on.
4. When instructed to destroy a droid or machinery do so in such a manner than a mechanically inclined wookiee can put it back together.
5. When shooting a victim with a stun gun be sure to remind your battle-hardened comrades that "she'll be alright."
6.Always assume "it's another drill."
7. It is not unusual if a strictly disciplined Imperial worker asks for assistance by saying, "Hey down there!"
8. When searching for people aboard a suspicious space craft don't assume they are hiding anywhere. If the log says they jettisoned, they jettisoned.
9. If your buddy is shot, die for him.
10. Always aim twenty feet away from your target or you might accidentally hit them.
11. If you are inside a large armored vehicle make sure to get out of it and try hand to hand combat. Your chances of survival are much greater.
12. Droids always tell the truth.
13. It is perfectly acceptable to leave your post to watch a light-saber duel.

Hush (Poetry Thursday)

Picture is my own, taken in my front yard

Blooms and Regrowth (Wildcard Wednesday)

So there has been a lot of prompts to do with spring this week and it just happens to be one of the coldest days in the Rio Grande Valley since like the ice storm in February. Despite that I am still going to play along. This piece was done for a wonderful project headed up by Robbygirl at ATCsforall. It is called Helping Hands For Japan. Robbygirl has also set up a Facebook page for the project so anyone is free to join. Here's a brief description...

Helping Hands for Japan is a project for artist to come together and donate art in the form of artistically created hands that will be auctioned off at the beginning of May with all funds going to aid victims of the current Japanese tragedy.

If you are an artist willing to create and donate a hand for the auction please contact me at [removed for privacy, see FB page] or here through FB.

All proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross Japanese Earthquake/Tsunami relief fund.

I have finished one hand, front and back so far and hope to do at least another. Here is to the renewal of Japan.

It's Steampunk! (ATCsTuesday)

Well Three Muses just posted their prompt a few minutes ago but it fit perfectly with this ATC I just finished and today's topic. Steampunk! I'm in love with Steampunk. This little dear was made for a Pick-A-Theme Swap at ATCsforall. The theme picked by one of my partners was "Steampunk Maids".

Coffee and Cigarettes

So, I signed up to participate in The Fiction Project by Arthouse Co-op. They sent me a moleskin back in...o goodness knows when...and the prompt "Coffee and Cigarettes". And it is finally done! Well it probably needs some glue touch-up but other than that it's finally ready to be shipped back. I paid extra to have it digitized so I didn't go to the trouble of scanning, only took some pictures of the pages. Personally I'm happy with it but I don't know if will come across clearly enough. It's in 46 poems, not your typical fiction format. Even so, it kept me occupied and that's the goal right now. Here's a few shots of random pages. Clicking on the pictures will enlarge them so you can read if you want to, though it might not make much sense out of context.

Based On (Minute Monday)

I took this last week. Our neighborhood is still largely undeveloped.

If someone were to write a book or movie "based on the true story" of your life, what details do you hope they'd change?

Honestly, I don't think I would want anything changed. In real life I would love this last year to be cut out because I have been unemployed but it in movie/book terms that's like 5 minutes or a paragraph that shows what experiences I've had to make me stronger.

Nearly Crazy (Sunday Scribblings)

Almost, nearly, close but not quite
A striving Tantalus, weary of the fight

Approaching, more or less, well-nigh
But still just a few yards shy

Circa, nearabouts, close but no cigar
How can you be so near but yet so far?

Approximately, relatively, in the vicinity of
Either below the mark or a little above

Roughly, practically, but not exactly defined
One foot in sobriety, one in anxiety
Straddling the Borderline

Borderline Personality Disorder was originally named so because it was thought be a person "bordering" on being psychotic but not quite there. The outlook has changed and some people are in favor of changing the name. Personally I'd rather say "I have Borderline Personality Disorder" and people have no idea what I'm talking about than saying,"I have Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder" which is one of the proposed names lol.

A Secret (Swap-bot Saturday)

So technically it's Saturday, right? So it's Swap-bot time! Well for me, it's almost always swap-bot time. My last Swap-bot post was featured on the Swap-bot's Blog Friday Link Love. Thanks guys!

Funny thing is...I've made several things for Swap-bot recently but haven't taken many pictures because my camera was on the fritz for a while. So for this Saturday entry I only have an 'in progress' pic as it were. Actually this postcard is finished but there was three partners for the Secrets Shared! Swap. This is one of my postcards, and no, the secret is not on the front and you aren't going to see it. :)

Anyway, I entered this swap because it reminded me of PostSecret (which I did once send a postcard too) but I'm kind of anxious about the secrets I might receive, it seems like a big responsibility in a way, being someone's secret keeper...

Indulgent (Photo Friday)

There is nothing like a new pedicure and propping your feet up on the patio. :)

Sarcasm (Poetry Thursday)

My house is infected with the stomach flu so I am outside, breathing clean air and crossing my fingers that I don't get sick while I type up this entry for One Single Impression. The prompt is sarcastic and I can be a pretty sarcastic and bitter person. And this poem might just be as bitter and sarcastic as you can get. It's my response to the ignorant people who sometimes say that an abused woman was "asking for it" by the way she dresses, acts, etc.

I'm Sorry I Was a Victim

Forgive me if I feel betrayed
I never meant to let you make me feel that way
I apologize, I let you down
I let myself too easily be bound
I'm so sorry I didn't put up a fight
I failed you horribly that night
Please, I beg you, forgive my sins
I should have let you force yourself in
It's all my fault, I know, I know
With me tied down you had to sink that low
Forgive me, I'm sorry, I apologize
I know you wouldn't have done it but for my naked thighs

Command (Wildcard Wednesday)

Command
The moon has the tide
and instinct every animal
I want my future

I'm just a little anxious about my grad school acceptance. The letter is supposed to come this month or next. I wish it would just come already! It's funny, I had a scholarship for undergrad so I never went through the agony of waiting to be accepted. I feel those poor kids pain now, the uncertainty of it all is nerve-wracking. I'm trying to keep busy, occupy myself but there isn't much to do when you live in the back of beyond and are trying to save money. I took some pictures yesterday and exercised...guess I'll do more of the same today. :)

Architecture (ATC Tuesday)

I love architecture, especially places of worship. They are so beautiful (generally :) )

Take a Word #21

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

In other things....my nine year old brother has become quite obsessed with his origami talents. :) He set up his own little "origami store" in the kitchen and spent the afternoon watching youtube videos of people making Origami Pokemon. I love this kid. :)

Monday, March 21, 2011

I didn't forget about today but I don't think the topic is going to work...it just doesn't fit. I'm giving myself till next Monday to come up with a better one. :)

Freedom (Sunday Scribblings)

This is actually one stanza from a much larger piece I am doing for the Arthousecoop Fiction Project. I've been working on this project all day....I started in a month or so ago and then let it simmer for a while but today I finished all the writing. Now off to design the presentation of the moleskin... I'm not sure if this portion comes off as well as a singular poem, it probably is better when taken as a whole with the rest of the stanzas but I'm not typing them....there are about 40, some longer, a few a little shorter.

There was a car
It was freedom
It was life
I could escape, drive away
I could go and I didn't have to stay
The decal was off the front
The side was dented
The speakers shut off by going over a bump
They turned back on by a miracle
I took naps alone between classes
I got my own lunch
I went to the bookstore whenever
I got coffee on Sundays instead of sermons
I lived

Doctor Who Matchbox Shrine (Swap-Bot Saturday)

This tiny tardis was made for the Doctor Who Matchbox Shrine Swap. I'm still waiting impatiently to receive the one from my partner but it's coming for England so I guess I just have to be patient. For anyone unfamiliar with matchbox alteration there are generally two kinds. One is the shrine and the other is...I don't know, the regular kind where you decorate the outside and fill the inside with goodies, generally they are 32 count matchboxes...not very big. The signs on the Tardis are Shrinky-Dinks because goodness knows I can't write that small. The interior is an art concept drawing that was in one of the latest editions of the Doctor Who magazine. I was so glad to come across it, it fit perfectly (well almost, I had to cut Rory out).

 Fezzes and Bow-ties are cool.

In Her Eyes (Photo Friday)

*Edit*

I found a photography prompt blog! And of course this week is green....but here is my photo. I was told that the new Starbucks cups cost 20 dollars less a package to produce because of less writing...interesting.

Moody Monday - Green

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Ok, I've already changed my schedule but the great thing is, this is my blog so I can. Fridays will be Photo Fridays....and until I  can find a good site that gives prompts for photos, I'm just going to post some of pictures from the week.

My little sister is always good for a photo or two. :)

The Ides of March (Poetry Thursday)

(so titled only because I could think of nothing else and I wrote it on the fifteenth)

Drink this in remembrance of me
This raspberry white mocha
Think how it rolled off my tongue
As it drips down your throat
Drink in the salt water that lies heavy in the air
The slimy sips of sun block while you suck my lips
Drink this in remembrance of me
The sourness of the amaretto we shared
The rain as we ran for cover
The pheromones hanging pregnant there
Drink up
The sun
The smiles
The tears
The blood
Drink the sweet musk from my woman's cup
Do this in remembrance of me

Fish and Green

This wild-card Wednesday has me presenting two ATCs. The first one is for Take A Word #20 - Green and the second is for The Threee Muses 94 - Fish.

I don't have a scanner so they are not the best pictures. The fish is very simple but still I like him and he is green too! He's 100% recycled. :)

Feel free to contact me in a comment if you would like to trade.

Intro/Test

What? Another blog? Don't you have more than you can keep track of? Yes I do, but I also like a clean slate, so here I am again. Also I've never had one on blogger and I think this will allow me to connect better with many of my contacts across the internet world. So without further ado, this is "Prompt Me to Greatness", basically since it's my blog I can put whatever the hell I want. I've devised a schedule though...

Sunday Scribblings
Meme Mondays
ATCs Tuesday
Wild-card Wednesdays
Poetry Thursdays
Fun Links Friday
and Swap-bot Saturday

They are all pretty self-explanatory. I'm unemployed, I'm starting to go under without anything to keep me busy and occupied so this is just one more thing to try. I love writing prompts, journal prompts, art prompts and challenges so this is my spot to show them off. :) I intend to display only my own work except for on Fridays when I will share a picture/project/link that I find interesting.

And since today is Wild-card Wednesday, lucky me can post my two new ATCs right away. :)
